2. Project “Sero-Surveillance” of
communicable diseases from a sentinel centre, like the District Hospital,
Jagdalpur from January to December 1997 for tests of AIDS, Viral hepatitis,
Widai, VDRL, Yaws and Dengue
§
To
study the pattern of morbidity in the general population at Jagdalpur area.
§
To
suggest area-specific programme/surveillance mechanism to prevent and control
communicable diseases.
§
This
data generated from a District Hospital could be used as a data from Sentinel
Centre.
From
January to December 1997, about 822 serum samples were collected from blood
donors and the antinatal cases coming in hospital for VDRL test. Out of these
717 samples were sent to Microbiology Division through Epidemiology Division of
NICD, Delhi for further analysis. Only 50 samples out of the 717 samples (No.
311 to 360) were sent to AIDS Cell, NICD and all the result received, all are
negative. The reports of the rest of the samples are awaited.
Project ‘KAP of the health worker’s for AIDS’
To
asses the knowledge and attitude of health workers towards AIDS, and to
determine whether training to health workers is essential for imparting health
education to the community. This study was carried out by distributing pre-designed
questionnaire, during April to June 1997 at 7 PHCs of Malkhangiri district of
Orissa. 267 health workers were given the questionnaire and analysis is under
process.
Preliminary Survey of Yaws cases at village Bodli & Ghotiapara of
Kachnar village under Lohandiguda PHC of Bastar district during September 1997.

NICD Jagdalpur team undertook house to house survey of the above mentioned
village and examined the people house to house. The result is as under:
